Hanna (2011)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0993842/
A cracker! A truly mesmerising performance from Saoirse Ronan as a child assassin. Some great action scenes fuelled by the chemical brothers' energetic soundtrack are nicely balanced with the more tender aspects of the plot. Great scenery and Cate Blanchett to boot.

Five stars*
*four stars really but I'm a sucker for a young female protagonist

The Duchess (2008)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0864761/
Kiera Knightley can only really do two things: look pretty and talk in a posho English accent. But Ralph Fiennes is way above this. Unless you REALLY love period dramas you'll be well bored. Waste of time.
One star

The Inbetweeners (2011)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1220617/
Not as funny as it should have been. Quite a few laughs but mainly recycled material and they don't half overuse the same jokes. Applause in the cinema was definitely unwarranted.
Three stars*
*two stars really but an extra one for the first dance scene.

Super (2010)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1512235/
A savagely violent and utterly bizarre take on the superhero movie. Face-bludgeoning a-plenty, cringey dark comedy courtesy of Dwight from The Office, and a terrifying turn from Ellen Page as his sidekick. All-in-all an entertaining if slightly disturbing film, but not for the faint-hearted or straight-laced.
Four stars.

Super 8 (2011)

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1650062/
A great adventure story and some brilliant child acting, even though I usually hate child actors. Not in Spielberg's directorial league but it doesn't fall short of the intended coming-of-age/supernatural-goings-on hybrid ambience. And some cracking explosions!
Four stars
